The day has finally arrived. The Half Pint Brawlers will be in Houston TONIGHT!

We’ll be there too, but we have no idea what we’re doing. Unfortunately the brawlers are so busy that we weren’t able to plan anything solid with the guys. Maybe we’ll be wrestling, maybe they’ll be eating ghost peppers, or maybe they won’t even talk to us. You won’t know unless you come out tonight!

If you’re wondering why we’re wrestling then you must be new to the RV. We tested our wrestling chops last year with Lucha Libre in El Paso, TX.

Thankfully there are great events like Houston’s South Texas Biker Jam that make it so damn easy!

Between now and the Jam on May 28th & 29th, there are THREE pre-parties!



The festivities get going tonight with Thunder Roads Bike Night hosted by Outlaw Dave. Next on the schedule is this Saturday the 21st at Papas on the Lake. The pre-party phase finale goes down next Thursday the 26th at Live Oak Bar and Grill. We’ll be at both of the Thursday parties, but we’re going to miss the Saturday party since we’ll be on the East Coast for Peppers at the Beach.

Here’s an added bonus. I will buy a round of Lone Stars for anyone that finds me at either of the Thursday parties and mentions this post. See you there!

Somehow we talked the guys from the South Texas (Houston) Biker Jam and Expo into letting us park the Spicy RV right in the middle of Reliant Arena. This is the first year for this event, and it’s going down on May 28th and 29th. Here’s what it says on their website:
For two days only, motorcycle enthusiasts will find, shop and discover all the latest gear, parts and information relating to the exciting sport of motorcycling. Unlike traditional biker rallies, the South Texas Biker Jam & Expo is bringing this world-class experience to area fans all under one roof. Among the many fun-filled attractions featured at this one-of-a-kind event are live music acts, live auction, Swap Meet Area open during Expo, vintage motorcycle exhibits, custom bike competition, tattoo competition, a leather fashion show, outdoor demo rides and plenty of high-energy shows featuring freestyle stunt riders. Bring the family, because you don’t want to miss this unforgettable event!

We’ll be participating in the cooler races, heckling Biker Billy, and looking for trouble around every corner. They’ve also given us permission to have the cameras rolling the entire time! Did you know we have a theme song?

We mentioned it once before, but as usual we probably did a terrible job of letting you know.

It was written by John Konesky. You might know him as the lead guitarist for Tenacious D? Anyway, he’s a friend of the RV, and felt sorry for us, so he wrote us a song. ENJOY!

OK, so maybe it was more than a sick day.

A sick month perhaps? Nevermind.

The bottom line is we’re still here, and still working toward getting the Spicy RV on TV.

We learned a lot in 2010 that will help us going forward…


Things like:

• Don’t do a spicy eating challenge without throwing up.
• Don’t shoot a segment with a camera you don’t own.
• Don’t climb on the bar, in a biker bar, and expect a positive result.
• Don’t leave your camera gear in your car, in a dark parking lot, for any length of time.
• Leave the stunts to the Jackasses.
• Never enter or leave a state without notifying the proper authorities.
• Make EVERYONE sign a release.
• Brass cojones are MANDATORY.
• And most of all; prison tattoos are only cool while in prison.

Something else we learned is that there’s no way an independent project like this can survive while renting an RV. That will be a BIG factor in 2011. Can we find a cheap RV that runs well enough to drive us around the country? YES, but only with YOUR help!

Help us find an RV, ANY RV! Preferably an old, classic one that runs great.

If we end up buying the RV that you find, we will fly you to our final destination during the first road trip we take in our new ride! That’s right, a trip to some spicy event, somewhere in North America. We’ll take care of the round-trip airfare (as long as you live in the continental USA), hotel for the weekend, and send you home with a bunch of hot sauce. What you do over the weekend is up to you. You can party with us, enjoy the event, or go be a tourist.

You may have seen the picture of John in a pepper costume before today. Did you ever wonder how that costume ended up adorning Mr. Scrovak? Probably not, but we’re going to tell you the story anyway. Better yet, we will show you the story in video form.

It’s a touching tale of a tyrannical host that made it a requirement for the rookie co-host to do whatever he was told during his first road trip. Some of the actions were amusing, some were abnormal, and some were just plain stupid. This one probably falls into the entertaining category. Enjoy John doing his best Pedro impression, and we will see you again on Wednesday.

Howdy howdy howdy folks, how you doing this morning?  Just kidding, I don’t really care.  No, that’s a lie, I do care, but I have more pressing news to communicate at the moment.  Bear with me.

So here, we’re rocking the retro feel with our video.  Why?  Well, Peppers at the Beach happened around 6 months ago, and as any film student or producer will tell you, when film sits around for a while, it tends to go bad.  You know, like milk, but without the malodor or nasty white goopey crap.  Luckily, we managed to throw it up on the site before it completely soured.

Here you’ll get an introduction to yours truly, to James Wreck (your favorite chilehead),  Chip Hearn (The king of wings), and an abundance of activity, colleagues, and other industry folks.  So watch it, love us, laugh while we laugh, laugh while we cry, and enjoy every minute.

Well, this is awkward.  We’re supposed to be on the road for Spicy RV 4.0 by now, and we haven’t even left Houston.  In fact, Scrovak is probably still in Maryland somewhere waking up next to his latest drunken mistake.  What happened?  That’s a really good question.  Let me try to explain without turning this post into a Wiki entry.

Three months ago we had it ALL figured out.  When we were going, who we were doing, what we were eating, and where we were stopping.  We even found a few celebrities that felt sorry enough for us to make appearances.  The only thing left was to talk to all our GREAT sponsors, and iron out how we would pay for everything.  For once, that sentence was not sarcastic.  And neither was that one.  Our sponsors are great, and they have to run their businesses according to what works best for them.   That meant we could get all the products, shwag, and supplies we needed.   However actual spending money wouldn’t be possible at this juncture.  No money equals no road trip.   It’s as simple as that.

We looked for other sponsors, but there just wasn’t enough time to make it happen.  As it turns out we’re going to have to put a new road trip on the back burner for a bit.  At least until the new year while we regroup and find new sponsors, or even better find a network that wants to air our show.  There’s the bad news, but we have good news too!

The good news is that we still have plenty of great videos to show you!  We have everything from the weekend at Peppers at the Beach, the second road trip to New Orleans, and everything from the Houston Hot Sauce Festival weekend.  That’s not the best news though.  The best news is that WE HAVE A NEW THEME SONG!  That’s right!  We were fortunate enough to have John Konesky (lead guitarist of Tenacious D) write and record a theme song for the Spicy RV!  We’re so grateful for his time and effort on this song, and we want to thank him publicly for all his support!  Now take a listen to our new theme song, and we’ll have a new video up on Wednesday!
