Stop 4 – Challenge 2: Charleston, South Carolina

Our fourth stop and second eating challenge of the trip lie in Charleston, South Carolina.  Therein lies Bushido, a Japanese restaurant known for their spicy tuna roll challenge, the “10 Levels of Fire”.

This is where I would link you to a website or something (You’re welcome for that one, by the way), but unfortunately a website could not be found (by John) for Bushido (but James found it). Anyway, back to the 10 levels of fire. Starting out at level one, a tame tuna roll the size of your fist, you have to eat and eat and eat.  These things are no small rolls, I assure you, and after each roll, you move to the next level, two, then three, then five, but probably four before five.  I don’t know, I’m a writer, not a physicist.

Infused with Habanero peppers and other tasty volcanic treats, the levels get progressively worse until you hit number 10, which I like to call the ninja.  I call it the ninja because it sounds cool, and because defEATing this ninja (Oh yeah, you liked that one) brings great accolades. You get a $25 credit to Bushido as an award, along with a sushi headband.  Oh, and you get your name and photograph taken and put on a wall for all to see and bask in your supreme manliness.  Surely anyone who accomplishes this deserves accolades of manliness that could only come with an extra testicle, but a name and picture is as close as Bushido can legally come.  We’re going to go ahead and sit down for this challenge, and see if we can’t show those damn fish why they’re not good enough to have legs.  Check back often for video of this event, my innards spewing across downtown Charlestown, James’ content face, and a bulk purchase of Pepto and toilet paper. Or, you could drop in and see us! We’ll be there the tenth, come prepared!

For your reading pleasure, a far more detailed account of the challenge is written in the Charleston City Paper. Man, i bet that guy wishes he could write like me. just kidding. I give him thumbs up.

Our good friend Adam Richman did this one too.
However this is the ONLY eating challenge from this trip that you will see on Man vs Food.
