Stop 1: Avery Island, Louisiana

The first stop on Spicy RV Part 2 road trip will be the home of Tabasco Sauce, Avery Island, Louisiana.
This is pretty much the only place in the world they can grow the right, special peppers for their sauces because in order to be a Tabasco quality pepper, each and every pepper has to be grown on, or from seeds grown on, Avery Island.  Why?  Because the salt content in the soil is so high, it adds a certain panache to the peppers.

We’re going to go in and take a tour of the place, maybe see if we can sample some three year old pepper mash, try to score a bottle or two of sauce to chug on video for yall, and generally raise some hell.  If everything goes according to plan, we don’t drink TOO much Lone Star, and Señor Pedro Pepper doesn’t get us lost, then we will be there the afternoon of May 7th.  As we get closer to the 7th, we’ll drop exact times everyone’s way so you can come visit us, take a shot of sauce with us, witness the mayhem first hand, or propose to Pedro.  (If you mention you’re friends with his cousin Jose Jalapeño, Pedro will eat it right up).
